Denosyl and empty stomach

by Elaine
(Tampa, FZL)

When medication says give on an empty stomach, how many hours after eating is considered empty stomach, medicine is denosyl

The main reason that denosyl is given on an empty stomach is to allow maximum absorption. Food is considered mostly digested and gone from the stomach in about 8 hours but it can take 20 hours for it to be completely through the system to the anus.

Your best time to give your cat the pill is first thing in the morning before it has breakfast. If you have dry food that you leave in a bowl that might be snacked on, remove it from access until the morning. Once your cat has the pill you can then wait an hour, then feed as normal during the day.
