Kitten Crusty Mouth

by Danielle
(USA)

My cat had a litter of four kittens less than a week ago. I check them every day to make sure they are doing well. Tonight, I noticed that all four of them have brown crust in just the corners of their mouths. I can't seem to get it off when I picked at it briefly.

What is it? Hoping they aren't sick. They have a healthy appetite and are active little things.

RESPONSE:

It sounds like just dried milk from nursing with their mother. Try using a warm, damp cloth to remove it. It sounds like they are healthy.

I would just keep watching, but it sounds like there isn't a problem.
