Laser Therapy effective for cat's arthritis?

by Kathy
(Duluth, MN)

Is laser therapy effective for arthritis in senior cats? I have 2 cats who are 18 years old, and would like to schedule them for the treatment, but don't know if it will actually help. They're on Bruprenex right now (for about a month), but I'd like to get them off of that if possible, and this sounds like a great alternative! Thank you for any help or advice you can give! I'm not asking for a specific diagnosis, just in general, is it usually effective?

RESPONSE: My older cat is also on Buprenex and I'm afraid I don't have any personal knowledge of the effectiveness of laser therapy.

However, here is the link to some information of helping cats with pain.

Laser therapy totally worked. NEW
by: Leslie

First: I apologize for my previous typo: I meant "our 18 year old boy had HIS first laser....

Next and more importantly: laser treatement completely healed him. We are in shock. I would not have believed it was possible. Doing six rounds of treatments. Four rounds in he is back to normal (after 2.5 months unable to walk!).

Our 18 yo boy had hairs first laser two days ago

And I swear I am seeing a difference already - but I really dont believe it's possible. He has been on gaba. And bupro. Since injuring his arthritic "elbow" two months ago. He has been hobbled and barely able to walk. We were hesitant to do laser due to cost. His second treatment is this evening. I'll try to update you after that!
