Leg Swelling

by Aimal
(Pakistan)

hey, I have a couple of Bengal Cats named as Alex and Bunty, both are male. Alex is pretty healthy and wild type but Bunty is little weak and from two days his left leg is swelled due to infection after an injury. I am using cold compress for swelling but I need dome proper guidelines for his treatment. please guide me, please please

RESPONSE:

If his swelling is due to infection and not from a break or sprain, then you have to treat him with antibiotics. If it's not too serious then you can use some first aid remedies. See this page: Cat First Aid

If you can't resolve the problem with topical or oral antibiotics then you will have to get him to a vet for an injection, but usually if caught soon enough, the topical or oral antibiotics will take care of it.

I see that you live in another country so some products might have different names. Go to my Pet Products page and click on Entirely Pets. It will take you to their website and they list the ingredients in each of the products. Then you can write down the ingredients and compare with items in your country to get a close match. Here is the link: Pet Products

I hope this information has been of use to you and that you can help your injured cat.
