Nuzzling me with very wet nose

I have had a new cat (male manx 5+yrs) for less than a month. A friend came in and fed and brushed him 2x/day when I was out of town for 8 days last week. He was just all over me when I came home. The nuzzling that was endearing when I first got him has now become annoying especially with a very wet nose and sometimes drooling (and especially @ 5am!)

RESPONSE:

Your cat may settle down after you've been back for a longer period of time. It's not unusual for a cat to nuzzle to show affection, and yes, some cats get so excited that they drool.

If you don't want to be disturbed at 5 am, then you may have to close the door to your bedroom. It sounds like your cat missed you while you were gone and got lonely with just the brief visits from your friend. This situation may slowly resolve itself as you both settle into a normal routine and your cat's fear of being left alone abates.
