picking cat up by tail?

I know someone who picks up his cats & kittens by the tail and also be the head. I m sure that this is dangerous but he insists it's okay. could you direct me to some academic scientific resource that will settle this controversy? Thanks


RESPONSE:

If I knew this person I would report them to the SPCA or similar association.

The cats tail is attached to the cat spine and serious injuries can occur. I don't know of an academic scientific resource but you could contact your local university's veterinary training dept. for assistance.
