Rocky's passing ~

I am so sorry to hear this ~ we with animals of any kind are deeply saddened by your loss and know from our own experiences how difficult it is.
The younger cat of course is your concern now.
I remember it well with my last two. They actually did not get along through out the 17 years that they were together but Noir kept constant watch over Minka as she was experiencing her last days, and she seemed comforted by him. He soon was ready to leave as well. I hospiced them both and it was a good decision for me at the time.
I think the advice of washing the scent is a good one. I did not think of that at all.
Know we are thinking of you and your relationship with the younger cat. May it bring you much joy.
