Why is she losing weight and hiding out?

by Mazal

Hi, I confess I'm a dog person, so I never cared much for my husband's cat, but lately I've become concerned for her. We noticed the past month or so that she's barely eating, and she's almost skin and bones by now. The past couple of days, we haven't seen her around and we found her resting on my sweaters inside my clothes closet. I called her out and offered her treats that she usually jumps for, and she didn't touch them. I combed her fur and after a few minutes she slinked away and went back to her hiding spot in my closet. What can this be about?

RESPONSE:

This sounds serious. Please read Cat Illness Symptoms

You didn't say how old the cat is but whether younger or older there is reason for concern. Please seek medical help at your local veterinarian and get her the help she needs.

Hoping all goes well and she recovers soon.
