abdominal scope cat aftereffects

by Susan
(Toronto)

My cat had a full abdominal scope Wed. and today Good Friday she is very uncomfortable , can't settle, and goes to pee all the time. She has a drop of reddish urine and now a bit of red tissue. Is this normal after surgery?
Thanks,
Susan

RESPONSE:

It is not unusual for a cat who has undergone a procedure such an endoscopy to have some discomfort for a few days. If it was necessary to remove a small tissue sample during the procedure that might account for the discolored urine.

However, if this continues over the weekend, then I would call your vet first thing Monday and relay the information to check and see that it is expected and not a problem.

To understand the complete scope procedure here is the link to the page: Housecat Endoscopy

I hope your cat recovers soon and wish you both well.
