if my cat has fleas on her stomache and private parts can we comb her in those areas

we have a cat that has fleas. when we comb her the fleas go right to her stomache and private parts. and then when we go to comb in those areas we are afraid that we will hurt her with the comb and we have given her a bath with cat flea shampoo can we use it on her private parts

RESPONSE:

First let me say that if you are careful, you shouldn't do any harm...but the fact that you are seeing the fleas suggests that there are numerous flea culprits on your cat.

Although a flea bath helps, the most effective deterrent that we use on our cats is a once-a-month application of products such as Advantage. There are several reliable and safe brands available at your local drug store or also at PetSmart, PetCo stores.
