Black poo

My cat who is 11 yrs, poo is black . I recently put him on senior cat food as he was finding it hard to go to the toilet. His poo does not smell, it's just black . He is well in him self . Should I go to the vet ?

RESPONSE:

Yes, you should get to your vet. It's possible that there is an internal problem because black stools sometimes contain blood which is causing the discoloration. If you deal with this now it will hopefully be resolved prior to getting more serious.

I wish you well in this problem being remedied.
