Green/Dry 7week old kitten

by Ryan
(east grand forks, MN,USA)

Boy 7 week old cat had green/dry nose. it looks like he can't breath but he can breath. 1) how do I clean his nose? 2) what do I clean it with?? 3) how do I make it not come back??? 4) is it contagious to cat to humans? If so how epuld I get rid of it so people don't get it

RESPONSE:

I assume this is a stray and it's not unusual for such strays to have combined viral/bacterial infections such as chlamydia/herpes. Gentamycin drops will work on a broad spectrum of similar conditions but it isn't antiviral so you may need a prescription from a vet that is antiviral ophthalmic drops or ointment.

If you have other cats they should be kept away from this kitten until it is determined whether it has one of the contagious respiratory viruses.

Good luck with helping this little kitty have a better life.
