Help, my white cat has blackish discharge from mouth and eyes

by Lora
(Ohio)

Hello, my white cat,Leo, has a black discharge around one side of his mouth and also a little in the corner of his eyes.Is it because he's white and its more noticeable. My husband said its because he drools when he sleeps. I'm worried he may be sick. Does anybody have any idea of what it may be? Thank you. Worried Sick

RESPONSE:

A white animal such as a cat or some small dogs like poodles, frequently have dark, blackish areas around the tear ducts and mouth. This discoloration can be removed with a warm, wet cloth. Sometimes you may need a little baby shampoo to loosen it and clean it well.

However, it could be a few other things. A link follows that you might want to read.
